The Asia-Pacific Journal of Public Health (APJPH) organised a 2-day training on 14th and 15th November 2022 entitled ‘Training for Improving Journal Performance and Handling of Manuscripts from the Asia Pacific Region’. This training was organised upon request from the KESMAS Journal, Faculty of Public Health, Universitas Indonesia to share knowledge and learn from APJPH on running a journal and tackling its issues.
The training was attended by 15 people from the KESMAS Editorial Board and a few other journals in the Universitas Indonesia. APJPH was pleased to have the Dean, Prof Dr April Camilla Roslaini who delivered the Opening Remark and officiated the event.
The two days were filled with talks delivered on many topics ranging from handling manuscript submissions, handling authors, reviewers, and editors, strategies for increasing citations, improving journal impact factor, and ranking, and increasing journal visibility. An in-depth Q&A session followed each lecture topic to enable thorough discussion, and a group discussion was held on the final day to discuss the issues faced by the journal and brainstorm strategies to address them. The talks were delivered by the APJPH Editor-in-Chief Prof Dr Low Wah Yun, Editor Prof Dr Claire Choo Wan Yuen, Editorial Officers Bairave Shunnmugam and Tee Guat Hiong, and the Deputy Chief Librarian of Universiti Malaya, Madam Koh Ai Peng.
