On 22 February 2025, APACPH Executive Committee Members (ECMs) approved Prof. Masahiro Hashizume as the New Regional Director of Japan and Executive Committee Member. In advance, Prof. Jimba organised a Zoom meeting in Tokyo with five active members from Japan. In the meeting, one member nominated Prof. Hashizume, and all agreed to recommend him as the new director of the Japan Regional Office and one of the ECMs. His new term’s timing was unclear before the ECMs’ meeting, but the ECMs agreed he could be the new director as of 22 February 2025. During the ECMs, Prof. Jimba proposed that the new director’s term should be 4 years, and it can be extended only once. As this information was not shared among the Japanese institutional members in advance, after returning to Tokyo, Prof. Jimba asked all members to approve the starting day of the new term, its duration, and the potential extension of his term just for once. All agreed on these two points in two weeks.
The conclusion is as follows: New Director of Japan Regional Office: From 22 February 2025 to 21 February 2019.
