Being an academic consortium, APACPH member institutions have many individuals who are in the early stages of their Public Health training and at all levels of study. Early Career Network of APACPH provides a platform for networking and developing these young professionals into future leaders.  Late Prof. Walter Patrick, former Secretary General of APACPH was the founder of the Early Career Network, which formed ECN with the objective of promoting and supporting young health professionals in public health through international collaborations.

The network aims to promote interaction between APACPH faculty members and trainees, enhance and supplement the educational and mentoring experience of professionals and early trainees in the public health field Provide opportunities for the participants to be involved in international public health issues. ECN is a vibrant and active body that has organised several capacity-building programmes for early career professionals.  Some of the highlights of ECN activities include the annual ECN workshop, ECN proto exhibition and APACPH mini-grants project.

Read more about the setting up of the network by Michelle Wong in 2005 and the first ECN workshop during the 37th APACPH Conference in Taipei, Taiwan.

The network now has its own website.
